What Does Kype Mean?
An audacious return to natal rivers requires a shift!Certain species of mature salmon experience a massive temporary transformation—their entire bodies change when it’s time to return from expansive seas to spawn safely in the river beds where they were born.
Before the journey, salmon develop bright red bodies, an increase in size, and for males, a hook-like lower jaw (called a kype).
